A busy weekend here. Saturday Tina, Tammy, Dottie and I went to Boards and Brushes. What a fun place that is. It is on the order of Sip and Paint, but no sipping and very little painting. We registered a week ago, picked out what we wanted to make and was told to wear old clothes that we didn’t care if we got stain, etc, on. Tammy and Dottie came looking like they were going shopping while Tina and I came looking like we were going to clean the yard. It is a good thing it wasn’t a fashion show event. I wouldn’t of won.
So we got our places and found what we were making. Tammy made a large board to place on her front porch with “The Walters 2022” and then pretty flowers going down the board, vine like. Dottie made a sign that said “Welcome” ; Tina made a wrack for coats, hats, etc. that said “The Walters” and I made a square board. stained mahogany, with a bear and the saying underneath, “Smokey Mountains, Tennessee” . When I chose it I thought it would be easy. It wasn’t. The bear is white with theses cuts outs over it. On the board, when we got started, after sanding and brushing and staining, a stencil of what you are putting on your wood is placed on top. Once you get it just right on the board, you press down and it sticks to the wood. Then you take the tape off the top and apply a color if that is what you need or want. I had to apply white to my bear. When you finish that you remove the stencil and pick out the small pieces that are left. Those are the design on the bear. The saying is also in white. You then let it dry. I know I forgot a few steps but it took a good three hours to do this and I would still be there if I hadn’t had help. You have to put the hanger on the back as well as the two stick type boards to hold the two flat ones together. It takes the drill, screws, hammers, screwdrivers, etc. and then some to get it all done. But it was sure fun and a well worthwhile experience. Thank you Diana for such an amazing Christmas gift.
After leaving there we all went to Chewy’s for a late lunch. That was fun. Jerry met us there and we all discussed our adventures. Chewy’s is a Mexican restaurant that Tina likes. She had tequilas, I had a taco, Tammy had a quesadilla, I can’t remember what Dottie had, and Jerry had a burrito. Of course rice and beans. It was a fun gathering.
We left there, went to Publix’s for groceries. They have the best veggies and that is what we needed. Then home. After putting things away we didn’t do much. However, Jerry and Tammy cleaned out the shed and did a couple other things, and Dottie mowed her back lawn! Boy, did we feel lazy after hear of their accomplishments.
Sunday was a day that we did a bit more. Tina vacuumed up stairs and the stairs and fixed corned beef and cabbage for dinner. We were to have company but an afternoon storm put an end to that. We had thundered, lightening, wind and heavy rain for about two to three hours. By the time it quit our plans had been cancelled. The storm came back about 2:00 a.m. and woke me up each time with the loud thunder and bright lightening. Tina said that it woke her up also.
Quote of the day: “THE PRICELESS GIFT TO GIVE FOR FREE: The gift of a compliment; A simple and sincere “You look great in red,” or “You did a duper job”, or That was a wonderful meal” can make someone’s day.” My calendar
have a great rest of your Monday. Make it a super energetic, adventurous, cheerful and fun day.
